Growing up as a very active child and teenager near Bude, surfing and swimming every day was the norm and fitness was a large part of my life. My mother is one of my main inspirations, she lost a leg before I was born via a motorbike accident which wasn’t her fault. She is a keen swimmer and mentally the strongest person I know. It was through her I became heavily involved in swimming at a young age, becoming a national level swimmer, gaining swimming scholarships to Kelly college, and being offered one at Plymouth Leander swimming club.
This experience developed a strong passion and deep knowledge of exercise, health, sports science and nutrition. When old enough I went to Exeter University to study Sports Science graduating in 2011. NL Wellness was founded shortly afterwards offering a unique combination of bespoke weight loss focused personal training and swimming coaching. Since then I have continued to learn and develop my skillset over the last 10 years. I never stop learning, there is always room for growth. Currently, I’m completing my MSc in Nutrition & Exercise Science started in 2019 researching the efficacy of Intermittent Energy Restriction strategies including Intermittent Fasting and Time-Restricted Eating for fat loss.
It has been a genuine pleasure to have helped 100’s over people in Exeter and the surrounding area to lose fat, feel better and become healthier. I always offer a free initial consultation where we can discuss in depth what your goals are and how I can help you. Don’t worry if you haven’t enjoyed exercise or training in the past, I can ensure that the programme we create together is safe, enjoyable and is designed around your preferences.
For those interested in swimming coaching I’ve coached 100’s of people, from complete beginners to elite level swimmers and triathletes, in both the pool and the sea. Shortly after graduating from Exeter university I became the university head coach for 5 years during which almost all the club records were broken. Combining superior technical instruction with expert knowledge of physiology, anatomy, sports science and nutrition I can help you learn to swim, or maximise your performance in the pool or open water.
